Mary Thorogood

Mary Thorogood serves as the External Affairs Director for Marine at The Crown Estate, where responsibilities include leading the external affairs strategy for the Marine business while managing a multi-disciplinary team. Key achievements involve developing strategies that enhance public reputation and attract investment within the evolving UK marine economy. Previously, Mary held various influential roles, including Board Director at Renewable UK and Director of Government Relations, External Affairs, and Communications at the Net Zero Technology Centre. With extensive experience in public affairs, government relations, and stakeholder engagement across the renewable energy sector, Mary has successfully contributed to enhancing organizational reputations and advancing energy transition initiatives in the UK and beyond. Mary holds a BA in Politics from Newcastle University, an MA with Distinction in Political Campaigning and Reporting from City St George’s, and completed an Executive Short Course in Regulation at The London School of Economics.
