Gil West

Gil is the COO of Cruise and leads operations as we begin our journey to commercialization. Previously, Gil West was Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Delta Air Lines, a $46B U.S. airline with 80,000 employees worldwide. He was at Delta for over 12 years.

Gil was responsible for Delta’s worldwide operations, including 366 airports in 66 countries, 1,300 aircraft, 200 million customers per year, more than 70,000 employees, and a budget of $16 billion. Under his direction, Delta achieved industry-leading customer service performance, a move to No. 1 from No. 7 in Department of Transportation rankings, and $6 billion in pre-tax profit. Delta also achieved record earnings for the industry, with EPS growth of more than 15 percent year-over-year.

Gil grew up in his dad’s auto parts store and has been a transportation enthusiast (planes, trains, buses, trucks, motorcycles, space ships, and automobiles) all his life. Gil joined Cruise to advance our transportation revolution and bring autonomous vehicles to life.
