Coach Vennochi is entering his third season as the head coach of Emerson’s Baseball Program. In his first two seasons at the helm, the team has seen a steady climb in the win column, with four wins in the 2015-2016 season and eight wins in the 2016-2017 season.
The Melrose MA native, graduated from Emerson in 2011 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, and a minor in Marketing, Advertising & Public Relations. He then completed his Masters of Education in Athletic Administration at Endicott College’s Van Loan School in 2013.
Vennochi played three seasons for the Lions Baseball Program, including being named a captain and team’s MVP his senior year. In his three seasons, Vennochi tallied 81 hits and a .299 average over his 95-game collegiate career. He and Coach Garber were a part of Emerson Baseball’s most successful season in 2010 when the club won 15 games.
Before coming back to his alma mater in summer 2015, Vennochi coached the club baseball team at nearby conference rival Babson College for two seasons. In addition, he worked camps, clinics, and did personal instruction at Extra Innings in Middleton MA. He also was an assistant coach for the Wesleyan University softball team in the spring of 2015.
He is the franchise holder (2014 – present) for the Malden Maddogs in the Boston based Yawkey Baseball League. Since assuming the role of manager, the Maddogs have won 51 games. As a player in the league, Vennochi has 113 career hits, a .268 average and a .393 on base percentage in 158 games since 2012.
