Heather H. Hamby, MPH, is Executive Associate Dean and Chief Business Officer for Emory University School of Medicine and Associate Vice President for Health Center Integration for the Woodruff Health Sciences Center. In her role within the School of Medicine, she is responsible for all business operations and fiscal planning and management for the SOM. Additionally, she is accountable for promoting strategies and business practices that further the academic, research, and clinical missions of the School through key external partnership relationships with the VA, Grady, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and Georgia Tech, and provides financial oversight for the Emory Medical Care Foundation.
In addition to her leadership roles within the School of Medicine, Ms. Hamby also serves as Senior Vice President for Academic Integration at Emory Healthcare. In this capacity, she represents School of Medicine on Emory Healthcare executive meetings and leads the Clinical Integration Committee to align organizational goals within Emory Healthcare and Emory School of Medicine. She is responsible for facilitating strategic work between Emory organizations, including funds flow, faculty work force planning and compensation initiatives.
During her 20 plus years of service at Emory, Ms. Hamby has served in other key roles, including Chief Business Officer for Emory Healthcare’s Physician Group Practice, Vice Chair of Administration and Executive Administrator for the Department of Medicine; Executive Administrator for the Department of Surgery; and Executive Administrator for the Emory Transplant Center. Her administrative leadership roles have included strategic planning, program development, operational and fiscal management, business leadership, and operational engineering.
She has active participation in several community and professional organizations, including Decatur City Dance Board President 2020-2021, 2006 Woodruff Leadership Fellow in Emory’s Woodruff Health Sciences Center, Leadership Atlanta class of 2016, and former co-chair and Vice president of local elementary school parent-teacher association.
Ms. Hamby received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and her Master of Public Health degree in health policy and management from the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University
