John Hanley has extensive work experience in marketing and communications. John started their career as a Copy Editor and Page Designer for various newspapers, including the Danbury News-Times, Globe Gazette, and Kansas City Star. John then worked as an Officer of Advertising and Public Relations at Sunflower Bank before joining the American Academy of Family Physicians as a Product Strategist, focusing on product development and strategic planning.

In 2012, John Hanley joined Equity Bank, where they held several roles. John started as a Senior Director of Marketing and later became the Director of Marketing and Investor Relations, leading digital and traditional marketing strategies. John also served as the Senior Vice President and Director of Marketing, overseeing communication efforts during acquisitions and rebranding. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Marketing Officer, responsible for building the Equity Bank brand throughout its regional and national footprint.
