Apostolos Tzitzikostas currently serves as the EU Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism at the European Commission, a position held since December 2024. Prior to this role, Apostolos Tzitzikostas was President of the Association of Greek Regions from November 2019 to December 2024 and Governor of Central Macedonia from November 2010 to December 2024. Other notable positions include President, Vice President, and Member of the European Committee of the Regions from September 2015 to July 2022, as well as Member of the Hellenic Parliament for the New Democracy Party from September 2007 to October 2009. Apostolos Tzitzikostas holds a BA in International Politics and Diplomacy from Georgetown University and an MSc in European Public Policy and Economics from University College London.
