Nikhil Shanbhag

Nikhil Shanbhag is the VP, Associate General Counsel - Competition & Telecommunications at Meta. Nikhil has over fifteen years of experience as an attorney advising clients on a wide range of regulatory, antitrust, and compliance issues.

Nikhil Shanbhag's career began in 1999 as a Business Analyst at Capital One. Nikhil then transitioned to law, clerking for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 2003 to 2004. Nikhil worked as an Associate at O'Melveny & Myers LLP from 2004 to 2007 before joining Google as Product Counsel in 2007. Nikhil remained at Google for three years, serving as Senior Competition Counsel from 2010 to 2013 and Director of Competition Law from 2013 to 2015.

In 2015, Nikhil Shanbhag left Google to become General Counsel at Instacart. Nikhil held this position until 2016 when they joined Facebook as Director, Competition and Telecommunications Law. Nikhil remained at Facebook until 2019 when they joined Meta as VP, Associate General Counsel - Competition & Telecommunications.

Nikhil Shanbhag has a J.D. from Yale Law School, a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Cornell University, and a bachelors from cornell university.

They work with Chris Sonderby - VP, Deputy General Counsel, Roy L. Austin, Jr. - VP, Civil Rights & Deputy General Counsel, and E. Kate Patchen - Associate General Counsel, Litigation. Their manager is Jennifer Newstead, Chief Legal Officer.
