Catalina Botero-Marino is a lawyer and dean of the Law School at Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia. From 2008 to 2014, she was the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression for the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights at the Organization of American States. She is an associate professor at the American University Washington College of Law’s Academy on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law. She is also part of the group of experts of Columbia University’s Global Freedom of Expression and Information Project, a member of the Scientific Committee of the Iuris Dictio Journal’s from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, as well as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the International Journal of Constitutional Law of ICON-S. As of February 2020, Botero-Marino was a co-judge for the Colombian Constitutional Court and the Council of State. She was a member of the Center for Constitutional Studies of Mexico’s Supreme Court of Justice, the Board of Directors of ARTICLE 19, the Center for Reproductive Rights, and Fundación para la Libertad de Prensa (FLIP), among others.
