James Morgan

General Counsel at FalconX

James Morgan is the current General Counsel at FalconX. Prior to joining FalconX, James was General Counsel at BitGo from May 2019 to May 2021. While at BitGo, James developed and led the legal and regulatory program for Genesis Global Trading - one of the largest cryptocurrency market makers specializing in trading institutional-size liquidity. James also pioneered the innovative business of Genesis Global Capital – the first ever provider of institutional-size cryptocurrency loans to facilitate shorting, hedging, and working capital needs. In addition, James solved the unique challenges of operating a cryptocurrency trading business operating through a broker-dealer structure with regulatory oversight by the SEC, FINRA, and NYS DFS. James also oversaw the regulatory requirements of Reg D 506(c) private placements of various cryptocurrency investment trusts. Moreover, James provided actionable guidance on the emerging regulatory landscape of cryptocurrencies, including representing Genesis before the SEC, CFTC, FinCEN, and NYS DFS. Lastly, James oversaw examinations from the SEC, FINRA, and successfully obtained the NYS DFS BitLicense without the use of outside counsel.

Before joining BitGo, James was a Founding Board Member at Association for Digital Asset Markets (ADAM) from November 2018 to May 2019.

James Morgan has a J.D. from St. John's University School of Law in Economics & Spanish Studies, a B.A. from Fordham University in Economics & Spanish Studies, and a doctorate from Regis High School. James is certified by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) in Series 24 and Series 7, and is an admitted attorney in New York.

Their manager is Raghu Yarlagadda, Co-Founder & CEO. They are on a team with Aya Kantorovich - Head of Institutional Coverage, Suzy Walther - Head of People, and Prabhakar Reddy - Co-Founder & COO.
