Michelle Van-Ess Grant is the Director of Student Life at Fashion Institute of Technology. Michelle has over 15 years of experience working in student affairs and has a passion for helping students transition to college life and develop leadership skills. Michelle began their career as a Coordinator of Student Affairs at Westchester Community College, where they oversaw the programming budget and advised over 50 clubs and organizations. Michelle then transitioned to New York University, where they served as the Assistant Director of Welcome Week. In this role, they provided vision and leadership for the welcome week program for incoming students. Michelle then joined Fashion Institute of Technology as the Director of Student Life, where they oversee all aspects of student life, including orientation, clubs and organizations, and programming.

Michelle Van-Ess Grant has a Doctor of Education from Northeastern University in Organizational Leadership, a Master of Arts from New York University in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Mass Communication/Media Studies. Michelle also has a High School Diploma in Medical Pharmaceutical from Thomas Edison HS. Michelle is certified in Fashion Institute of Technology Safe Zone Training.
