Richard Alfonsi

Board Partner at First Round Capital

Richard Alfonsi is currently a Board Partner at First Round Capital. Prior to this, they were the Head of Global Revenue & Growth at Stripe from January 2017 to February 2019. As part of Stripe’s executive leadership team, they led global GTM functions responsible for revenue generation including sales, account management, sales operations, and others. Richard helped to lead Stripe through a period of hyper-growth as the company scaled from 500 to 2000 employees.

From June 2012 to December 2016, Richard was the VP, Global Online Sales at Twitter. Richard was responsible for growing Twitter's ads business across channels that serve clients ranging from large, strategic partners to SMBs across the world. Richard was also responsible for the business aspects of Twitter's TellApart and TapCommerce acquisitions, and spearheaded efforts around mobile apps and general direct response ads products.

Before joining Twitter, Richard was the VP, Global Display Sales & Strategy at Google from January 2007 to May 2012. In this role, they oversaw Google's display advertising business worldwide. Richard also played a key role in developing and executing Google's display advertising strategy.

Prior to Google, Richard was the VP, Enterprise Business Unit at Tellme Networks from January 2003 to December 2007. In this role, they were responsible for Tellme's business operations and strategy. Richard also oversaw Tellme's relationships with major partners and customers, including Microsoft and AT&T.

From January 2001 to December 2003, Richard was the VP, Marketing & Business Development at Velant, Inc. In this role, they were responsible for Velant's marketing and business development efforts. Richard also oversaw Velant's relationships with major partners and customers, including IBM and Oracle.

Richard Alfonsi has an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a BSE in Electrical Engineering from Duke University.
