Thomas R. Kuslits

EVP & Chief Lending Officer, Commercial Banking at Flagstar Bank

Tom Kuslits joined Flagstar Bank in 2011 and currently serves as executive vice president and chief lending officer for commercial banking. In this role he is responsible for a commercial banking team that has generated a $2 billion portfolio over the past five years. Areas reporting to him include commercial lending, treasury management, government banking, product development, and strategic alliances. He has over 33 years of commercial banking experience in the Michigan market.

Prior to joining Flagstar, he was managing sales director for Fifth Third Bank – Eastern Michigan, with responsibility for a $1 billion commercial portfolio. This diverse portfolio included middle market commercial and industrial relationships, along with relationships managed within specialty groups focused on health care, auto dealer floor plans, and equipment leasing.

He spent the first 20 years of his banking career at Michigan National Bank where he held several commercial banking positions, ultimately serving as director of corporate financial services. In this position, he oversaw international and municipal banking along with the development of capital markets products and services (loan syndications, bond placements, and merger and acquisition services).

He serves on the board of directors of Child Safe – Michigan, a subsidiary of the Judson Center.
