James Parkes is an experienced geologist with a significant tenure at Fortescue since August 2018, where roles have included Superintendent Geology Projects, Senior Geologist Projects - Standardisation, and various positions in resource definition geology. Prior experience includes a position as Mine Geologist at Newmont Corporation, where resource, reserve, and grade control for underground diamond drilling were managed, as well as roles at KCGM focusing on near-mine exploration and production geology. Earlier in the career, James worked as a Core Logging Geologist and a Summer Vacation Student at Newmont Corporation, and gained foundational experience as a Core Sample Assistant at the University of Otago while being involved in the New Zealand Alpine Fault Deep Fault Drilling Project. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Otago.
