About the role

As the Maintenance Foreperson you will oversee the maintenance operations of our marine fleet and shore-based assets, ensuring that the engineering maintenance services are done to a standard where the business is compliant with relevant legislation so we can deliver safe and reliable ferry services.  This role requires strong leadership qualities, technical expertise in marine engineering, and a proactive approach to maintenance planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead & coordinate allocated daily work for your team
  • Ensure procedures are followed with minimal disruption to service and ensuring the fleet is safe for operation
  • Improve reliability by completing preventative maintenance tasks on time
  • Ensure open reactive tasks against the fleet are within manageable and reliable levels
  • To supervise the jobs being performed ensuring that quality standards are always maintained and performed safely and efficiently
  • To perform maintenance and engineering duties as and when required, including the engineer’s on call roster
  • Complete performance reviews for your team
  • Day to day management of team that report to you
  • Be responsible for ensuring the immediate work environment is hazard free

About you:

  • Relevant Marine engineering/trade certificate  or diesel mechanic qualifications
  • Experience is a similar mechanical maintenance role
  • Knowledge and experience in the marine industry
  • Ability to solve technical and practical problems
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisation skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
