Jo Clark

Head of Research at Future Trees Trust

Dr Jo Clark is the current head of research at Future Trees Trust. Dr has over 25 years of experience in forestry research and management. Dr started their career as a Genetic Resources Technician with the USDA Forest Service in 1991. In this role, they were responsible for managing the forest Service's tree improvement program and conducting research on the genetic resources of trees. Dr left the Forest Service in 1999 to join Earth Trust as their Forestry Research Manager. In this role, they managed a 40ha research woodland dedicated to the improvement of hardwood trees for timber production. The research conducted at Earth Trust included provenance and progeny trials of ash, oak, walnut, beech and cherry, as well as silviculture and tree health research.

In their current role as head of research at Future Trees Trust, Dr Clark is responsible for the organization's tree improvement program across seven different species of trees. Dr is also the project leader for the Living Ash Project, a research project funded by the UK government that is investigating the adaptability of ash trees to climate change.

Dr Jo Clark has a PhD in Adaptation of ash (Fraxinus excelsior L.) to climate change from Bangor University.

They work with and Georgina Thomas - Digital Marketing Manager. A direct report to Dr Jo Clark is and Joe Beesley - Research Assistant. Dr Jo Clark reports to Tim Rowland, Chief Executive Officer.
