Há 35 anos em Portugal, o Gato Preto surgiu com o objetivo de dar a conhecer ao público o artesanato que era feito no nosso País. Atualmente, tem 66 lojas na Península Ibérica e uma loja online focada no mercado de Portugal, Espanha e França, através das quais leva até às casas novos conceitos de design e decoração, acompanhando sempre as mais recentes tendências. Em 2022 foi distinguido com o Prémio Escolha do Consumidor como marca nº1 em Decoração em Portugal.
