EVP & President, GM North America at General Motors
Barry Engle was appointed Executive Vice President and President, The Americas, in April 2019. He is responsible for operations in the US, Canada, Mexico, Central America and South America, as well as Global Chevrolet. Engle serves on the board of GM China’s joint venture, Shanghai General Motors Co., Ltd. (SGM), and is a member of the GM Senior Leadership Team. Engle joined GM as Executive Vice President and President, South America, in September 2015. In October 2017 it was announced that he would become Executive Vice President and President, GM International, and his responsibilities would expand to include operations outside of North America and China. Engle has lived and worked around the globe, running businesses in Latin America, Europe and Asia, as well as the US and Canada. His automotive experience includes 13 years with Ford Motor Company, before going on to become the President and CEO of New Holland Agricultural Equipment, the CEO of THINK (an EV start up) and the CEO of Agility Fuel Systems (a private equity backed Tier 1 supplier). Engle also has automotive retail experience, having been a Chrysler Plymouth Jeep dealer. Engle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, with a minor in Spanish, from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He serves on the board of Council of the Americas and the National Advisory Council of the BYU Marriott School of Business.
