Makayla Gessford

Makayla Gessford is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the biotechnology and life sciences sectors. Currently serving as Associate Director at bluebird bio since January 2020, Gessford has held multiple key roles, including Senior Manager of Operational Excellence for Patient Supply and Senior Project Manager for Launch Planning. At bluebird bio, responsibilities have included authorship of critical BLA sections and leading critical validation studies. Previously, Gessford worked at Ascend New England as Operational Excellence Manager and served as Vice President of Operations at Asian Hustle Network™. With a background at Genentech in various engineering and technical roles, Gessford has demonstrated expertise in visual inspection processes and regulatory compliance. Gessford holds an Honors B.S. in Bioengineering from Oregon State University, where research efforts included pioneering studies on nanoemulsion pesticides and nanoparticle development.
