After down-sizing the team in 2021, Archer Chiang, the CEO of Giftpack AI rebuilt the team and sort out all the internal company resources. In 2022, Giftpack opened another round of Giftern program, with a few full-time openings being available alongside.
Ping Cheng was a former Front-end Giftern at Giftpack from February 2020 until the April of 2021. After some major life events, he has returned to the AI gifting company as a full time Front-end Engineer.
Ping grew up relocating in many countries due to his parent’s work. He attended school in Brussels in Belgium, Taipei Taiwan, and went to high school and college in Ankara, Turkey. He graduated with a major in Computer Technology and Information Systems from Bilkent University in 2021. That being said, he speaks 5 languages with great fluency: Chinese, English, French, Turkish, and Arabic. The multicultural perspectives he brings to the team is crucial to Giftpack’s cultural database of gift options.
After his Giftern experience while still in college, he came back to Taiwan and joined one of the most popular tech companies in Asia — Line Corp. He faced the compulsory military service and quitted the job to finish serving. Despite the life at Line was exciting, he wished he could have more flexibility in working and more responsibility. He values challenges, growth opportunities, and work-life balance very much while considering a job. He figured Giftpack is the company that will fulfill all his current needs in his professional life.
Another achievement of Ping is his self-founded Muslim app, Wahdapp. The core value of Wahdapp is for Muslims to easily find or invite groups of people to pray together in their local areas. Users can join or invite for the five daily prayers, the Friday prayer (Jumuah), and even the funeral prayer (Janazah). He used the idea and developed the prototype into a fully functioning application, making it available for all iOS and Android users. The application is now on both Google Play and App Store, and has active users from Muslims of different countries across the world, including Turkey, Indonesia, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and many more.
Archer and the team members are thrilled to welcome Ping back. His goal with Giftpack is to create a seamless experience for Giftpack users in their journey on the platform. He wants to make sure that the platform is ready to scale up at any moment, as we are expecting company’s growth to skyrocket in the near future.
