Giftpack Adds Won Moon Joo as Business Development Manager

Giftpack Adds Won Moon Joo as Business Development Manager, Giftpack

Corporate gifting company Giftpack is excited to welcome Won Moon Joo to its team as a Business Development Manager. Won Moon has great experience across partnerships, finance, operations, and data science, and from his home in New York, he’ll be responsible for the company’s business development and sales in the United States.

Won Moon studied at New York University and has worked for a range of startups including HOSANG LEE, Weigend Associates, Opt-Intelligence, quip., and more. He believes the energy and flexibility in a startup really suit his way of getting things done, and the Giftpack culture is a great example of that.

“I think just having a minimal hierarchy, and the fact that everyone is passionate and aligned on the vision is really magic,” he says. “Having accessibility to the CEO, and the aura of their vision for the company is a huge driving force and motivation.

“With Giftpack, just having that clean culture and a relatively small team and a flat organization makes it really special. The specialness comes from the fact that it feels not too special; it’s really normal and everyone is good to each other. It’s really easy to fit in. I really enjoy that vibe of people just accepting others as who they are.”

While the startups he’s worked for are in different industries, and he’s shown skills in different areas, Won Moon’s particular strength is across business development and sales. He’s attended a lot of startup events and built his network by reaching out to different startups and even done cold sales calls.

In terms of a career, however, Won Moon has a flexible approach to following whatever path presents itself to him. He’s open to seeing where things take him, which has helped him to find his role at Giftpack. He saw the job advertised and reflected on how the company catered for a special customer experience.

“My dad got a couple of gifts from clients for Christmas,” he says. “They're not the most crazy gifts, but I think it's more about the memory and the experience rather than the specific gift itself. I thought it was a great way to incorporate AI and gifting. I like to think of it as sending memories not sending products. Yes, it costs a sum of money, but the surprise and the experience is much more valuable.”

Won Moon was born in Korea but moved to Wisconsin when he was 6 years old. He also lived in Rhode Island and New Jersey, before moving to New York. He likes to merge his work passions with his hobbies and is really interested in how the explosion of data affects our daily lives. He also likes the outdoors and would love to improve his beginner’s coding skills.

Business Development Giftern Shailee Onboards from Bay Area 🇺🇸 imageedit39571746935.jpg Shailee Nanavati, a Santa Clara High School sophomore is now interning at the corporate gifting platform Giftpack AI. Don’t let age deceive your assumptions of a high school student. With multiple awards and knowledge of the business world, Shailee joins together with the business development at the company. At a young age, Shailee has founded several organizations. One example is a non-profit organization, Bears to Share, whose vision is to make a difference for the local community, be it sewing stuffed animals for children in hospitals or donating hundreds of masks. Starting as a club at Santa Clara High School, the organization has expanded and reached people all over the Bay Area providing them with both help and happiness. She is also the founder and host of Shape Your Future, where she builds a community of industry leaders and successful individuals to share their experience and guide young adults through their potential career paths. Giftpack is excited to see young talents with entrepreneurial mindsets joining the wave of digitalized gifting. Many of the members have actually worked at world-famous early startups (https://giftpack.ai/about), or started their projects (e.g. Ping Cheng — the Founder of Wahdapp). Shailee knew that she loves a fast-paced environment and that working at Giftpack will present her with a handful of opportunities. Hence she decided to apply for the internship position. She is thrilled that she now gets to exercise skills she has learned and will be able to even explore more and learn new ones. She enjoys how close team members are to each other and the positive vibe at this company. Bringing her experience from her past successes in Silicon Valley after attending programs and leading award-winning teams, she hopes to contribute by bridging the gap between business relationships with thoughtful gifts.

Former Frontend Engineer Giftern Ping Cheng Rejoins Giftpack AI

Former Frontend Engineer Giftern Ping Cheng Rejoins Giftpack AI

When Giftpack AI member returns home 🇹🇼 _DSC0005.jpg After down-sizing the team in 2021, Archer Chiang, the CEO of Giftpack AI rebuilt the team and sort out all the internal company resources. In 2022, Giftpack opened another round of Giftern program, with a few full-time openings being available alongside. Ping Cheng was a former Front-end Giftern at Giftpack from February 2020 until the April of 2021. After some major life events, he has returned to the AI gifting company as a full time Front-end Engineer. Ping grew up relocating in many countries due to his parent’s work. He attended school in Brussels in Belgium, Taipei Taiwan, and went to high school and college in Ankara, Turkey. He graduated with a major in Computer Technology and Information Systems from Bilkent University in 2021. That being said, he speaks 5 languages with great fluency: Chinese, English, French, Turkish, and Arabic. The multicultural perspectives he brings to the team is crucial to Giftpack’s cultural database of gift options. After his Giftern experience while still in college, he came back to Taiwan and joined one of the most popular tech companies in Asia — Line Corp. He faced the compulsory military service and quitted the job to finish serving. Despite the life at Line was exciting, he wished he could have more flexibility in working and more responsibility. He values challenges, growth opportunities, and work-life balance very much while considering a job. He figured Giftpack is the company that will fulfill all his current needs in his professional life. Another achievement of Ping is his self-founded Muslim app, Wahdapp. The core value of Wahdapp is for Muslims to easily find or invite groups of people to pray together in their local areas. Users can join or invite for the five daily prayers, the Friday prayer (Jumuah), and even the funeral prayer (Janazah). He used the idea and developed the prototype into a fully functioning application, making it available for all iOS and Android users. The application is now on both Google Play and App Store, and has active users from Muslims of different countries across the world, including Turkey, Indonesia, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and many more. Archer and the team members are thrilled to welcome Ping back. His goal with Giftpack is to create a seamless experience for Giftpack users in their journey on the platform. He wants to make sure that the platform is ready to scale up at any moment, as we are expecting company’s growth to skyrocket in the near future.
