Abebe Hailu

Abebe Hailu is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in digital transformation and IT solutions. Currently serving as the Director General of Digital Transformation and IT Solutions at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) since May 2024, Abebe leads global IT and digital strategies across over 120 countries, focusing on aligning digital innovation with strategic goals in international cooperation and sustainable development. Prior to this role, Abebe was the Head of Technology & Data for Europe at DB Schenker, overseeing technology and strategic transformations across multiple regions. Previous positions include leadership roles in technology and architecture at Mercedes-Benz AG and its financial services branch, as well as various consulting and architectural positions in software and systems. Abebe holds advanced degrees in Distributed Computing Systems Engineering and Business Informatics, along with a certification in Executive Leadership from Hult International Business School.
