Rocío Campos

Communications Manager at Global Network Initiative

As Communications Manager, Rocío is responsible for overseeing GNI’s internal and external communications, including developing and implementing a communication strategy to increase GNI’s visibility and impact. With 20 years as an international development and communications professional, Rocío has championed dozens of civil society communications and advocacy initiatives to promote access to public information, transparency, and civic participation.

Before joining the GNI, Rocío worked with the International Budget Partnership (IBP), where she built communications platforms from scratch, including a bimonthly newsletter and website. She also designed and implemented numerous campaigns, learning materials, and webinars to engage a growing international network of fiscal policy analysts and practitioners. Rocío also managed IBP’s grant portfolio in Central America for five years. Her country focus was in El Salvador, where she facilitated multistakeholder discussions, while simultaneously mentoring local civil society organizations on their communications and advocacy campaigns. Additionally, Rocío has worked with organizations in Africa, Asia, Central Europe, and South America.

Rocío holds a master’s degree from the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame, a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, and graduate studies from the European University, La Sorbonne, and the University of California, Berkeley.
