Long-standing scientific interest on RNA Therapeutics (oligonucleotide and RNA drug delivery) using extracellular vesicles (EVs) and lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) as RNA delivery platforms. A strong background in diverse scientific areas such as oncology, cardiovascular, metabolic and genetic diseases, covering quantitative molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, cellular engineering, drug delivery and gene therapy technologies. Has worked in close collaboration with industry such as AstraZeneca, WAVE Life Sciences, and scientific consortium such as Industrial Research Centre (IRC) for functional RNA delivery—FormulaEx established between different Universities and Biotech companies in Sweden.
My most recent work at the University of Gothenburg, in collaboration with AstraZeneca, was focused on the use of EVs and LNPs for RNA drug delivery, where I investigated and reported numerous aspects of RNA transport via EVs/exosomes. I contributed new methods and tools of loading therapeutic RNAs into EVs and delivery to target cells and tissues, which have been published in top tier peer reviewed international journals (e.g Advanced Science PMID: 36806740, and Nature Communications PMID: 31551417).
