Matthew Chung

Matthew Chung is an experienced land use planner currently employed by BC Public Service since October 2025. Prior roles include Planning Assistant 2 and Planning Assistant 1 at the City of Coquitlam from September 2023 to October 2025. Matthew's background also includes working as a Climate and Sustainability Engagement Assistant and Zero Waste Engagement Coordinator at The University of British Columbia from May 2022 to December 2023, as well as serving as a Research Assistant in UBC's School of Community and Regional Planning from January 2022 to July 2023. Additional experience encompasses a teaching assistant role in the UBC Department of Asian Studies and an Assistant Language Teacher with the JET Programme Canada from August 2016 to July 2021. Matthew possesses a Master of Community and Regional Planning from UBC SCARP (2021-2023) and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Geography from The University of British Columbia (2011-2016).
