Ms. Isabella Borrero is an enthusiastic and experienced public health sciences professional, and highly motivated to improve health and education in Maine communities. Her track record includes working and volunteering in public and academic settings and her education includes two master’s degrees. Ms. Borrero is also bilingual.
Previously, Ms. Borrero taught for ten years at the college level. She also managed and grew a medical microbiology reference laboratory, worked on the development of bachelor and postgraduate students, led multidisciplinary research groups, and won several awards and had several publications.
In Maine, Ms. Borrero worked and volunteered for more than a decade as a medical interpreter and translator, and as a community health outreach worker with emphasis on the Latino Community.
From 2009 and continuing to this day, Ms. Borrero is the City of Portland’s public health lab director for testing, diagnostics, and data reporting for sexually transmitted diseases.
Ms. Borrero has also been a board member for the Greater Portland Health since 2019. In 2024, she also joined the board of the Great Schools Partnership.
