Ruth Cooke

Ruth is a highly experienced chief executive and finance director and was appointed group chief executive at GreenSquare in May 2019. Having spent nearly all her working life working in and with housing associations, Ruth is passionate about the importance of housing and support services.

At GreenSquare she has led the development of a new corporate strategy focused on the organisation's core purpose – to be a brilliant landlord, providing homes for rent and shared ownership for those who cannot afford to meet their housing needs in the open market. GreenSquare operates in Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.

Before joining GreenSquare in 2019, Ruth was chief executive at Clarion Housing Group; this followed six years as chief executive at Midland Heart. While at Midland Heart, Ruth oversaw a transformation in financial and operational performance, including a complete redesign and refocusing of customer services; a strategic review of the care and support operation; creation of an in-house maintenance team; delivery of a large mixed tenure development programme; and a range of other improvements to service delivery.

She has advised on many of the housing stock transfers in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and the Forest of Dean. Ruth was also previously finance director at Midland Heart and has held a range of other senior finance positions at Anchor, Knightstone, and PwC.
