Viewed by his peers as a global, multicultural and future-oriented business leader, César Recalde is the CEO of GroupM Latin America where he leads nearly 2,000 people passionate about shaping the next era of media where advertising works better for people. A member of GroupM’s Global Leadership Team, he is a key player in championing GroupM’s strategy to work with agency and GroupM leadership in the region to use its scale in providing more powerful and effective solutions for clients through the development of technology-enabled services. With $957 million in media investment billings across the region, GroupM owns a 23% market share. César is particularly passionate about continuing to bring innovative products and technologies to our clients in LATAM to usher in a new era of media. He was previously MediaCom’s CEO for Latin America and Caribbean, where he continued the ongoing expansion of MediaCom services available to clients and partners in the region, ensuring they have access to the best possible tools, talent and insight the agency can offer. As a career-long industry innovator—he’s had no less than twelve roles in three different countries across two regions—César brings a clear perspective on what today’s marketers need and a strong command of the data and technology that will bring to life GroupM’s vision of making advertising work better for people. César first joined WPP in 2009 as the CEO of MediaCom Spain, a role he held for a little over a year and a half before leaving to start his own business, Media By Design. Upon selling that business in early 2014, César returned as Chief Business Development Officer for MediaCom Latin America, helping the group win integrated regional projects across WPP. In January 2018, he became Chief Business Development Officer for GroupM Latin America, a role he maintained when he added CEO of MediaCom Latin America to his remit in June 2019. Prior to WPP, César held roles at Carat, McCann Erickson and MRM Worldwide, among others. César and his family will continue to be based in Miami, Florida.
