Damian Black

SVP Business Development at Guavus

Damian was CEO and Founder of SQLstream, a company recently acquired by Thales to strengthen Guavus’s streaming analytics and real-time intelligence capabilities. SQLstream is an acknowledged leader in the streaming analytics world, with customers including Walmart and Amazon AWS, and is the pioneer in transforming SQL into a real-time parallel-processing language for stream data management.

Immediately before that, he ran Global Business Development and the US Operations for a Sequoia-funded company Followap, leader in mobile instant messaging and presence, now Neustar. Damian has a long career that started in AI research at Hewlett-Packard’s European research laboratories and ended up running the 64-bit program for HP worldwide including business and customer transition.

Damian holds 14 patents and studied at the UK’s oldest and leading Computer Science school, the University of Manchester, where he was the prize winner for Top Computer Science and Engineering graduate (Valedictorian).
