Will Hickson

Will Hickson is currently the VP of Data at H1. Prior to this, they were the COO and Chief Data Officer at dmi.io, a data marketplace that aimed to reduce the friction in the buying and selling of data. Hickson was responsible for developing the data catalog strategy and collection methodology, lead business development initiatives with data source partners, authored blogs and white papers for stakeholder communication, and provided data modeling expertise as the company built out its graph based architecture.

Before dmi.io, Hickson worked at Bridgewater Associates as part of the Research Data team. Will's responsibilities included supporting the front office data needs of the Research department, covering unstructured exploratory research and data for programmatic trading. During their tenure, Hickson developed the design and proof of concept for a new research data platform that incorporated leading edge reference and metadata management tools. Will also re-engineered data operations processes to drive efficiency and quality, leading to the outsourcing of non-core activities and introduction of more robust business processes to the data management process. In addition, Hickson led talent hiring for the data team and applied best practice data management techniques to the hiring process to improve quality and hiring rates.

Will Hickson has a MA in Natural Sciences and Management Studies from the University of Cambridge and an ACA in Accounting, financial management theory and auditing from ICAEW. Will also went to King Henry VIII School Abergavenny.
