Irbis Martinez

Irbis Martinez currently serves as the President of SHPE, leading fundraising initiatives and encouraging high school students to pursue STEM careers through workshops. In addition to this role, Irbis is a Wastewater Engineering Intern at HDR, assisting project managers with technical writing and data organization. Previous experience includes working as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Arizona KORES Lab on PFAS removal technologies, and as a Disability Cart Driver, where leadership and efficiency improvements were implemented among over 20 student workers. Irbis also gained research experience in quantum chemistry related to climate change at the University of Arizona College of Engineering. Education includes a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Arizona, expected May 2024, following a high school diploma from Hamilton High School in 2020.
