Rajeev Syal

SEVP & CHRO at Huntington

Syal leads the development and execution of Huntington’s human resources strategies aimed at continuing to drive the bank’s internal brand of doing the right thing for its colleagues and enhancing among its workforce its strong legacy of providing excellent customer service. He is responsible for all of Huntington’s human resources functions including compensation and benefits, learning and development, diversity and inclusion, recruitment, succession management, employee relations, HR information systems and analytics.

Syal has more than 25 years of professional experience. Prior to joining Huntington, Syal was managing director and global head of human resources for the Markit Group Ltd., a global financial information services firm.

Syal joined Markit Group in 2008, where he headed human resources during the company’s successful IPO as well as being responsible for human resources across more than 20 international locations. During this time, he also oversaw due diligence and integration activities for more than a dozen acquisitions, while cultivating an entrepreneurial spirit to build a strong organization from the ground up.

Prior to Markit Group, Syal was a senior vice president for human resources at Bank of America Securities where he was responsible for teams around the world. A native of Alberta, Canada, Syal began his banking career as a branch manager for TD Bank Financial Group in Edmonton. During his 19-year career at TD Bank, he worked his way up through various positions becoming the managing director, human resources, TD Securities Inc. in New York, NY. It was a position he held from 2000 to 2006.

Syal is a business administration-accounting graduate from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton. He also has completed the executive development program at the Wharton School of Business.
