Ken Laban currently serves as the Mayor of Hutt City Council and is a Board Member of Sport New Zealand Ihi Aotearoa. With a long history in sports broadcasting, Ken has been a Broadcaster for World Rugby and Sky New Zealand, and a Commentator for Waatea NEWS. Ken holds leadership positions as Chairperson of the Hutt-Valley Sports Awards and Member of the Board for the Piri Weepu 7s Tournament and Gareth Head Junior Rugby Leadership Clinic. Additionally, Ken was a Council Member for Greater Wellington until October 2025. Ken's education was completed at Scots College from 1970 to 1973.
