Steve Gregory is a national correspondent for iHeartMEDIA and since 2005 has been with KFI-AM in Los Angeles, America’s most listened to News Talk Station. Steve also hosts the popular radio show/podcast, Unsolved with Steve Gregory on the iHeartRadio App.

Many of Steve’s investigations have exposed wrongdoing. He uncovered a medical billing scam in the Arizona State Prison System; outed a major conflict of interest case which resulted in the demotion of a Deputy Chief in the Phoenix Police Department. Steve once landed an exclusive interview that sped up the public confession of a serial killer in San Diego. His relentless digging exposed mold poisoning at an elementary school in LA County and, through a well-placed source, revealed the first-ever jailbreak in the LA County Men’s Jail. He has also been in the middle of some of the country’s most volatile riots and protests.

Steve has produced and hosted numerous documentaries for iHeartMEDIA and its subsidiary, iHeartRADIO. His critically acclaimed 2-hour radio special and 8-part companion podcast, The Death and Life of Kobe Bryant, was one of the most popular podcasts on the iHeartRADIO app. His team has also produced the popular documentaries, Operation: Vaccination, Policing for Tomorrow, Stopping the Hate, 9/11: Twenty Years Later, and After the Verdict: A Path Forward.

Steve is an eight-time winner of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award. The Associated Press has given him numerous awards for Best Newscast, Best Special Program, and Best Series. Steve has also won international media awards for features on the Phoenix Fire Department, the U.S. Border Patrol, the Los Angeles Fire Department, and Arab-American comedians.

He’s also won National Headliner and Communicator Awards. Steve is the winner of more than forty Golden Mike® Awards for his coverage of breaking news, news specials and investigative features, including his coverage of the San Bernardino Mass Shooting and the riots in Ferguson, Missouri, where he happened to dodge gunfire and was attacked during a live report.

Steve has lectured at Arizona State University’s Cronkite School of Journalism, Pepperdine University, CalState Fullerton, Biola and CalState Northridge. Steve is in demand as a media relations consultant to police and fire departments around the country. Steve has presented at training conferences for the National Information Officers Association, the Utah Governor’s Safety Summit, the California Peace Officers Association, the Utah Public Information Officer’s Association, the Arizona Public Information Officers Association, the California Public Information Officers Association and the Association of Paroling Authorities International.

In 2021, the State of California’s Commission on Police Standards and Training awarded Steve the 2020 Individual Excellence in Training Award, a first for a journalist. He’s an instructor at the Government Training Agency.

Steve is an adjunct instructor with the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and the University of Southern California’s School of Public Policy. He has also trained officials at the CHP, Los Angeles Fire Department, and Los Angeles County Fire and Sheriff’s Departments. Steve is the first working journalist to become a California Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST)-certified instructor. In 2018, he became the first journalist in America to be certified as an instructor with the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) and the International Law Enforcement Educators & Trainers Association (ILEETA).

In 2016, the California State Legislature issued a bipartisan proclamation to Steve honoring his achievements and contributions to journalism. He also serves on the board of directors of the Radio Television News Association of Southern California where he chairs the media access committee.

Steve also conducts seminars for private companies and non-profits on media relations, crisis communications and how to gain publicity for their product, client, or service. Steve has worked with the San Francisco Bay Area Air Quality Management District, International Association of Business Communicators, the Helicopter Association International and the Dubai Heli Show.
