Nathan Carlie

Nathan Carlie is a seasoned expert in optics and materials science, currently serving as the Head of Optics at Inertia, where responsibilities include directing optics development initiatives for laser-inertial fusion energy. Previously, Nathan held key positions at Edmund Optics as Director of Research and Development and R&D Manager, and at SCHOTT North America as a Scientist, managing projects and leading scientific discoveries. Education includes a PhD in Materials Science from Clemson University and a BS in Chemistry from the University of Central Florida, complemented by an AA in Chemistry from Valencia College. Nathan's research experience spans several prestigious institutions and includes developing novel infrared transparent glasses and advanced measurement systems, demonstrating a strong commitment to innovation in the field.
