Sam Ruland

Sam Ruland currently serves as Service Editor and Digital Producer at The Philadelphia Inquirer, where responsibilities include overseeing the distribution of journalism across various platforms. Previously, Sam worked as a Pennsylvania issues reporter and digital optimization strategist at the York Daily Record/USA Today Network, achieving first place in the Keystone Press Awards for enterprise reporting on police accountability. Earlier experience includes roles such as Copy Desk Chief and Digital News Chief at The Daily Collegian, managing editorial teams and providing news coverage. Sam’s career began as a reporter at The Daily Collegian, covering a wide range of topics, including crime and local government. Sam holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Digital and Print Journalism and Political Science from Penn State University.
