Jemma Gould

Chief Sustainability Officer at Interpublic Group

Jemma Gould is Vice President, Chief Sustainability Officer at IPG, one of the world’s leading providers of advertising and marketing services. In this role, she is responsible for the company’s global corporate responsibility and sustainability programs including ensuring compliance with reporting standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures.

Jemma has been with IPG for nearly two decades, prior to which she was with Young & Rubicam as the agency’s Director of Internal Communications. She began her career in the not-for-profit sector, working with the Business Committee for the Arts, an organization founded by David Rockefeller to encourage business support of the arts.

Under Jemma’s leadership, IPG has received several recognitions for its ESG initiatives. These include two years as the only advertising holding company headquartered in North America on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) North America, and inclusion on the S&P 500 ESG and the S&P Global 1200 ESG, S&P indices that recognize companies’ work on ESG initiatives. IPG is also included on the FTSE4Good Index, which identifies businesses that demonstrate strong ESG practices measured against international standards. In 2022, IPG was named to Newsweek’s list of “America’s Most Responsible Companies 2022” and the Forbes and Statista list of “America’s Best Employers 2022.”

Jemma holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Binghamton University and a Certificate in Corporate Citizenship Management from Carroll School of Management at Boston College. She is a member of the Advisory Board of ACT Responsible, an NGO which unites the marketing communication industry to share best practices on social responsibility and sustainable development. She is also a member of the 4As Sustainability Task Force and the Ad Net Zero Steering Committee. She is a judge for the 4As 2022 Jay Chiat Awards in the Sustainability Strategy category.
