James Cekola serves as Corporate Counsel for Intellectual Property Litigation at Jazz Pharmaceuticals since December 2021. Previously, Cekola worked as an Intellectual Property Attorney at Higgs Fletcher & Mack, where responsibilities included handling patent and trademark disputes, collaborating with foreign attorneys on global issues, and negotiating licenses. Cekola's experience also includes a role as a Complaint Resolution Officer at the University of California San Diego, and a significant tenure at Morrison & Foerster LLP, representing clients in complex intellectual property cases and leading a civil rights pro bono practice. Early career experiences include internships in legal and research positions at BP, Invitrogen, and other organizations. Cekola holds a JD from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and a BA in Chemistry and Mathematics from Kalamazoo College.
