Mark Stauber is the CEO of Jido, a computer vision company that enables retailers to create contactless, physical to digital shopping experiences. Jido has patented core technology in the areas of 3D product detection, in store localization, and augmented reality. Jido’s team started in the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Labs and is composed of technical specialists with backgrounds in computer vision, robotics, and deep learning. Since its founding in December 2017, Jido’s technology has been deployed by the world’s largest retailers across 1000’s of physical spaces on 6 continents.
Prior to their current position, Mark was a Research Fellow at Stanford University for 5 years and 6 months, where they led research to create ultra low-cost medical devices for simulation and diagnostics by adapting their technology to consumer hardware/software. Mark also aided in the development of a novel encounter-type haptic display under the guidance of Prof. Allison Okamura.
Before their work in the private sector, Mark was a Senior Biophysics Researcher at Yeshiva University for 3 years and 4 months, where they conducted and published extensive experimental research investigating effect of chirality on protein crystallization. Mark also co-founded and led hardware team in construction of autonomous simultaneous location and mapping (SLAM) robot. In addition, they developed molecular dynamics simulations to study the role of secondary structures in protein folding.
Mark’s experience also includes a Neuroscience Research Fellowship at Feinstein Institute of Medical Research at North Shore-LIJ, where they studied for 3 months.
Mark Stauber has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, where they led research to create ultra low-cost medical devices for simulation and diagnostics. Mark also has a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, with a focus on Medical Robotics, Mechatronics, Controls, and Design. In addition, they have completed the Ignite program at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and they have a degree in Physics and Mathematics from Yeshiva University, where they won the best thesis award.
