President, John Deere Financial & Chief Information Officer at John Deere

John Stone is President, Worldwide Construction & Forestry and Power Systems, a position he has held since July 2020. He is responsible for the sustainable, profitable growth of the company's construction and forestry equipment business around the globe as well as the continued success of the Wirtgen Group. John also has responsibility for the company's engine, drivetrain, hydraulic cylinder, and electronic-component businesses. John previously headed Deere's Integrated Solutions Group, the company's precision-ag technology arm. There he led the company's acquisition of tech start-up Blue River Technology, the establishment of Deere's San Francisco John Deere Labs office, and the precision-ag headquarters in Urbandale, Iowa. John's other leadership roles included Vice President, Corporate Strategy & Business Development; Global Director, Utility Tractor Product Line; General Manager, John Deere Ningbo (China) Works; acquisition integration manager; and supply management manager. He joined the company in 2002 as a project manager on the tractor business. Under John's leadership, the company has rapidly developed capabilities in AI (artificial intelligence) and machine learning, has better integrated precision-ag technology into each of its flagship products, and has established itself as a leader in heavy-duty high-tech. Accolades have followed. In 2019, the company's 8RX tractor received the 2020 "Tech for a Better World" award by the Consumer Electronics Show. Prior to joining Deere, John worked for General Electric as a Six Sigma Black Belt and before that was an officer in the U.S. Army. He has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the United States Military Academy and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
