Joanne Pietrini Smith

Joanne Pietrini Smith, MBA, serves as the Head of Life Operations at John Hancock since January 2025, where responsibilities include overseeing Life new business and in-force experience, driving automation and digital solutions, and fostering distribution growth within the life insurance sector. Prior to this role, Joanne held the position of Chief Operations Officer at Crump Life Insurance Services from 2012 to 2024, leading client service and underwriting functions with P&L accountability. Earlier experience includes serving as Senior Vice President for Institutional Operations at Crump, where Joanne managed large outsourced service accounts, and as Senior Vice President, Head of Business Management & Operations at AXA Financial, overseeing significant life insurance underwriting and customer service operations.
