Torkjel Austad

Torkjel Austad has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and industries. Torkjel started their career at NRK as an IT support specialist, where they were responsible for support and maintenance in the factual programs department and managed the department's web pages. Following this role, they worked as a web designer consultant for a game shop, handling web and graphic design projects.

In 2005, Austad took a position as an English teacher at Saiei Holdings, and then transitioned to a role at Opera Software in 2006. At Opera Software, they held various roles over the course of several years, including QA & Engineering Controller, Project Manager, and QA Test Manager. Torkjel'sresponsibilities included writing software process guidelines, creating engineering templates, conducting project reviews, managing project deliveries, and overseeing a team of developers and testers.

In 2011, Austad joined 99X as a Project Manager, where they led a web application project and served as the Change Manager for customers. Simultaneously, they also started working at TIDAL as the Head of QA, establishing the QA department, its processes, tools, and resources from scratch.

Since 2017, Austad has been working at Kahoot! as the QA Manager, responsible for establishing and leading the QA department and its processes, including Dragonbox and Poio apps. Torkjel'stasks include leading a team of software testers, recruiting, managing testing efforts, and serving as a JIRA and Confluence administrator.

Additionally, Austad has also served as the Chairman of Bygland Bryggeri, a position they have held since 2017.

Torkjel Austad's education history begins with their high school education at Gimle videregående (High School) from 1995 to 1998. During this time, they studied general subjects including IT, English, and Mathematics, obtaining a degree in "General subjects (studiekompetanse)."
