Abdo G. Ghié

AVP, Enrollment Management at LEBANESE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY

Mr. Abdo G. Ghié is the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management at LAU.

In his role, he oversees the offices of Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships and the Registrars on both the Beirut and Byblos campuses. He coordinates with deans and senior administration to identify enrollment goals and leads enrollment management initiatives to achieve those goals.

Working towards implementing the university’s new Strategic Enrollment Management Plan, Mr. Ghié develops, modernizes and spearheads all projects related to the Enrollment Management unit, in order to better serve LAU students.

Mr. Ghié is working toward increasing standards of admission and works closely on developing LAU’s effort to offer more university services online. He is also implementing the new Financial Aid and Scholarships Plan to offer more financial assistance, in the form of scholarships and loans, to prospective and current LAU students.

Prior to joining LAU in 2009, Mr. Ghié held various positions at the University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, which enrolls more than 36,000 students.

From 1991 to 2004, he was the International Students’ Advisor. From 2004 to 2009, he was the Chief Administrative Officer of Strategic Enrollment Management and Registrar at the University of Ottawa, where he directed and led projects related to admissions, registration, financial aid and awards, student services, recruitment, marketing and communication.

He also planned and managed the Associate Vice President and Registrar’s budget, implemented new recruitment strategies and marketing campaigns, and established the strategic plan with the Associate Vice President. At the same time, he taught at the University of Ottawa’s Telfer School of Management. Mr. Ghié has been a member of the University of Ottawa’s Board of Governors since 2003, and was appointed to the Executive Committee of the Board in 2006.

Mr. Ghié obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ottawa in 1996, and a Master’s in International Management from the École Nationale d’Administration Publique (ENAP) in 2001.
