Erwin Muller currently serves as the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Closed Criminal Cases (ACAS) at Hoge Raad der Nederlanden since May 2025. With extensive experience in academia, Muller has been a Vice Rector of Organizational Development at Universiteit Leiden since January 1985, where roles have included Professor of Security, Safety and Law, Dean of the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs, and Director of Criminal Law & Criminology. Additional engagements include membership in the Royal Holland Society of Sciences, chairmanship of the Supervisory Board at CBR, and board positions at Stichting Machiavelli and the Economic Board The Hague. Muller has also held editorial positions in multiple publications and is affiliated with the Security Delta (HSD) as Chair of the Advisory Board. Educational credentials include a PhD in Public Administration and Law from Leiden University and an LLM in Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
