Doreen Picozzi

Doreen Picozzi has extensive experience in education and journalism, currently serving as a Teacher, Advisor, and Career and Technical Education Academy Coordinator at Lincoln Public Schools since August 2002. In this role, Doreen acts as a Journalism Advisor and Program Coordinator for the Journalism Broadcast Academy, while also teaching English Language Arts in Honors English 9. Prior to this, Doreen was the Rhode Island State Director for the Journalism Education Association from November 2011 to October 2020, focusing on promoting journalism education and supporting local journalism initiatives. Doreen's background also includes serving as Press Secretary to the Mayor in Providence, RI, and managing a weekly newspaper as Managing Editor at Downing Corporation from February 1984 to December 1990. Doreen holds multiple degrees from Rhode Island College, including a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Writing and a certification in Secondary Education from Providence College.
