Manuel Garcia

Manuel Garcia is a seasoned researcher currently serving as a Staff Scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory, focused on Information Systems and Modeling since August 2023. Prior to this role, Manuel held the position of Senior Member of Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories from January 2020 to August 2023. Manuel earned a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, where research involved optimization applications in power systems and a dissertation on non-convex electricity markets. Additional academic experience includes a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, along with an Associate of Science from Shasta College. Previous internships and research positions at prestigious institutions such as Argonne National Laboratory and MIT further underscore a strong background in power system control theory and electricity market mechanisms.
