Brian Nygaard

Brian Nygaard is the current Head of Global Business Solutions at Maersk Drilling. Prior to this, they were the Chief Procurement Officer (Global Head of Procurement and Supply Chain) at Maersk Drilling from December 2015 to February 2017. Brian was responsible for global procurement/supply chain operations, OPEX and CAPEX category management, business process owner, logistics, inventory, HQ spend and compliance functions.

Under their leadership, Brian was able to change cost to the “new oil reality” and ensure stable and professional supply chain operations towards the 23 drilling rigs. Brian also drove cost and value optimization in a differentiated Business Unit strategy.

In addition, Brian defined a procurement strategy that supports the business strategy and was responsible for direct as well as indirect procurement spend and processes. Brian's focus on talent management and organizational development led to the establishment and consolidation of activities into new “Global inventory” and “logistic” functions.

Managing large suppliers to ensure increased value add and access to innovation was another one of Brian's many responsibilities. Brian also benchmarked procurement performance within- and outside the oil industry and integrated digital and automated procurement solutions into the ERP environment.

As if that wasn't enough, Brian was also responsible for supply chain to the FPSO Operation in Congo (separate BU in Maersk) and led procurement engagement in “oil start-up” in

Brian Nygaard has a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the IMD Business School, a degree in High performance teams from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a Negotiations degree from Harvard Business School, and an Accelerated Development Programme degree from London Business School. Brian also has an HD(R) in Accounting and Finance from Handelshøjskolen i Århus, a Master's degree in Bachelor and Master degree in Law from Aarhus Universitet, and a Law degree from South Texas College of Law. Finally, they graduated as number 1 out of 142 sergents in class of 1992 from Sergent school of the Danish army.
