Maria Li is a Technical Instructor in Biomaterials at the Royal College of Art, managing lab operations and facilitating student projects in biomaterials and biodesign research. As a Program Manager and Board Member at MakerBay Foundation, Maria leads a creative youth empowerment initiative, oversees budget management, and fosters partnerships with youth centers. Maria holds an MA in Biodesign from Central Saint Martins and a BSc in Applied Biology from City University of Hong Kong, with additional training in web development. Previous roles include coding instruction at Blueinno Technology and co-founding DIY BIO Hong Kong, promoting citizen science for environmental sustainability.

MakerBay Foundation
MakerBay Foundation is a non-profit organisation aimed at achieving positive social and environmental impact through maker education and design thinking training. We co-create different innovative projects with the youth and community in order to tackle the needs of our society. Our co-working makerspace is equipped with tools and machinery for woodworking, metalworking, sewing, laser cutting, 3D printing and coding, supporting everyone to create their designs and products. Through collaborating with youth, social workers, educators and professionals from different industries to deliver programmes and training, we are committed in promoting maker education, impact innovation and entrepreneurship.
