James Snyder

Interim Dean, School of Management & Interim Dean, Academic Engagement at Marist College

James Snyder is the Interim Dean for Academic Engagement and the Interim Dean for the School of Management. As Dean of Academic Engagement, Snyder oversees the Core/LS program, First Year Seminars, the Honors Program, and he provides leadership and coordination to Marist’s many high-impact practices. As School of Management interim dean, he provides leadership and vision for all academic programs offered by the school at its Hudson Valley campus and at its branch campus in Florence, Italy. The dean is responsible for overseeing, implementing, and assessing all School of Management academic programs. Snyder is an Associate Professor of Philosophy, and from 2014-2019 he was Director of the Honors Program. Under his leadership, the program saw important improvements in retention, engagement, and graduation rates. In 2017 he was awarded the Board of Trustees Distinguished Teaching Award. He is a historian of philosophy, and he has recently published articles on high-impact practices and higher education administration.
