Ken Nguyen

Managing Director, Investments at McCourt

Ken Nguyen helps lead direct investing and business development at McCourt and serves as a senior strategist across McCourt's global business. In that role, Ken contributes to guiding and formulating strategic direction at each of the firm’s business units, as well as identifying, qualifying, and executing new opportunities to invest, build, or partner.

Prior to joining McCourt, Ken was a Vice President in Blackstone’s restructuring and reorganization practice, where he specialized in deal structuring, negotiation, and analysis in complex situations as an advisor to companies and investors. Ken led the execution of 16 transactions – M&A, capital raises, investments, and restructurings – with $45 billion in deal value from inception of the global financial crisis. Notable transactions include advising the Los Angeles Dodgers on their $2.2B record sale and restructuring, $8 billion cross-border restructuring of pulp and paper manufacturer AbitibiBowater (IFR Restructuring of Year, 2011), $1.6 billion exchange offer / refinancing and strategic review for Toys "R" Us, and restructuring alternatives review for General Motors Acceptance Corporation re: Residential Capital ($9 billion in liabilities). Ken also advised McCourt on its acquisition of a 50% interest in the Global Champions Tour.

Previously, Ken was with Citigroup’s leveraged finance group, where he executed more than $5 billion in high-yield-bond and leveraged-loan transactions and oversaw bank and corporate loan portfolios in the United States and Asia across a range of different industries.

Ken earned an MBA in corporate restructuring and reorganization from the Wharton School and a BS in finance and management from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business and is a member of the Milken Young Leaders Circle.
