Caitlin Bodtmann

Cait Bodtmann is a Partner in MKCI’s Florham Park, NJ office. She represents both major corporate clients and small businesses in product liability, toxic tort and complex environmental and commercial litigation, including successfully defending talc, asbestos, and negligence claims, overseeing litigation throughout the country as National Coordinating Counsel for clients involved in mass tort multi-jurisdictional litigation.

Cait appreciates the importance of keeping her clients updated regarding their cases, claim and cost trends, and developments in the litigation overall. She participates in the investigation and development of each of her clients’ background and witnesses, spearheads the organization of client records and databases, reviews and unifies national discovery, trains local counsel, and is experienced in developing liability and causation defenses. Cait also conducts settlement negotiations on behalf of her clients on a national basis.

In addition to her litigation experience, Cait is a member of MKCI’s Leadership Committee, co-chair of MKCI’s Women Lawyer’s Initiative, and a member of MKCI’s Client Relations Committee. Cait also participates in the training of all attorneys new to MKCI, serves as a mentor for young and lateral attorneys joining MKCI, and has assisted in the management of the asbestos department in MKCI’s Florham Park office, overseeing the defense of cases, ensuring compliance with firm protocols, and assisting in management of the trial calendar.

Cait is routinely involved in organizing, preparing, and giving presentations regarding litigation trends and defense strategies for clients, insurance carriers, and local counsel, and has also presented on the topic of Cosmetic Talc and Recent Verdicts. Cait is also a member of the Defense Research Institute.

On a personal level, Cait dedicates her time to her family, including her two energetic young sons, and various charitable causes such as the Nothing is Impossible Foundation.

Cait obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law. While attending Fordham, Cait was a member of the Fordham Environmental Law Review and served as a Research Assistant to Professor Bruce Green. Cait received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Boston College, where she was a member of the Pre-Law and Honors programs.
